Kristin’s goal is to create images that convey the essence of her subjects.
She captures candid moments that add depth and authenticity to the photographs. Whether shooting in the studio or on location, the goal is to put the subject at ease and get them to open up, allowing them to be comfortable in front of the camera. She is a firm believer in taking a less-is-more approach. While anyone can work with big sets and large teams, pushing a budget to the max doesn’t equal great images. By stripping everything down, Kristin can genuinely collaborate with her subjects. She provides a safe space for them to be vulnerable and open to trying new things, thinking creatively on the fly, and making great art. You don’t need a room full of assistants for that.
Kristin is committed to ethical and responsible practices in her approach to editorial photography. She understands the importance of representing the subjects respectfully and accurately while working hard to ensure the images are compelling and artistic.
Past clients include Vibe Magazine, Flaunt, Warner Brother’s Music, Rap Pages, BMG music, The Boston Globe, Jones Works PR, Malcolm Kenyatta for Senator, OM Records, The Root, Variety, NPR, Harper Collins, Billboard Magazine, the New York Times and Rococo Punch.
She was a recipient of the Gordon Parks National photo competition in 1999 and has received honorable mentions from Communication Arts Magazine.
